CSSI’s Affiliate Research Studio provides CSSI researcher affiliates with office space in the Social Sciences Research Building to focus on their research. The initiative is designed to create opportunities for researchers from different disciplines, departments, and colleges to maintain a regular presence within CSSI, exchange ideas, and build connections that support innovative social science research.
Benefits
Participants receive:
- A private office space in the Social Sciences Research Building;
- opportunities for networking and collaboration with other researchers, including facilitated connections to researchers across campus whose expertise, interests, or methods align with participants' current research activities;
- proximity to CSSI staff, services, and programs; and
- visibility as an engaged member of the CSSI research community.
Expectations
Participants are expected to:
- Use the assigned office space on a regular basis (approximately 8-12 hours per week),
- meet with the CSSI team at least once during the appointment period to discuss current research activities and opportunities for support or collaboration,
- maintain active status as a CSSI researcher affiliate, and
- contribute to a welcoming and collegial research environment.

Application deadline: Applications received before September 11, 2026 will be considered for next residency period.
Next 8-Week Residency Period: Monday, September 28, 2026 through Friday, November 20, 2026.
Eligibility and Review
Applicants must be CSSI researcher affiliates.
Applications will be reviewed based on anticipated use of the office space, alignment with the goals of the initiative, and scheduling considerations.
Instructions
Submit the following information to CSSI through the application portal below:
A brief statement (300-500 words) describing: (a) your current research activities, (b) why access to a SSRB office would be beneficial, and (c) how you anticipate using the office and other spaces in SSRB, including conference rooms and small meeting rooms (if needed).
A proposed residency schedule describing the day(s) and time(s) each week you plan to work in residence if selected.
