The Center for Social Science Innovation (CSSI) is excited to announce applications have opened for our Researcher-in-Residence (RiR) research incubation summer program.

RiR provides faculty and scientific staff with the time, space, and resources to conduct high impact social science research.

To advance their research project forward, selected participants are provided with quiet, dedicated office workspaces, research funding, and CSSI staff support. Participants can spend their time on any element of the research process, including grant development, data collection or curation, manuscript writing, and dissemination.

All researchers are expected to work in residence at the Social Sciences Research Building (minimum of twelve hours per week) and to attend weekly accountability meetings and workshops (approximately two hours per week). The workshops will provide the participants with additional expertise from CSSI staff and University of Iowa leaders on how to effectively fund, sustain, and share their research.

The program will run from Monday, June 16th to Friday, July 18th.

Last summer’s RiR participants used the program’s resources to conduct life history interviews with individuals who experienced sexual victimization while incarcerated and to develop a grant proposal aimed at understanding the financial and social insecurities of Social Work master’s students.

Applications for this year’s RiR are due Friday, March 28th.
