Purchase Survey Questions Today!
4 /35
This survey is scheduled to deploy on or before January 23, 2026.
CSSI's SurveyHarvest is a recurring survey opportunity open to University of Iowa faculty, staff, and student researchers where they can add questions to a high-quality survey of a nationally representative sample of 1000 US adults. Researchers may purchase up to 35 questions at a rate of $200 per question. Demographic information of the survey respondents is included free of charge. Additional details regarding survey design, question format, and sample are available below.
SurveyHarvest is intended to provide UI researchers with an opportunity to collect survey data with minimal administrative burden. The low cost of survey questions through SurveyHarvest relies on deploying 35 survey questions at a time. As a result, surveys are not deployed until 35 questions have been purchased by UI researchers. This means that participants may need to wait several weeks before their survey data are collected.
CSSI staff handle all administrative, IRB, and survey programming requirements. After the survey data are collected, researchers will receive responses to their submitted survey questions, along with appended demographic data.

Question Submission Process
Researchers interested in purchasing questions may submit questions via a Qualtrics portal. Up to 35 questions may be submitted, at a rate of $200 per question.
Once questions have been reviewed by CSSI staff, researchers will be notified via email that their questions have been accepted and added to the next survey. At that time, CSSI staff will execute a scope of work with the researcher. The researcher will not be invoiced for the survey data until the survey is deployed.
CSSI Staff Support
Design & Programming
CSSI staff will review submitted questions and make recommendations based on best practices for survey question design. Staff will also program the questions in Qualtrics.
Deployment Coordination
CSSI staff will deploy the survey to a nationally representative sample of 1000 adults through Verasight. Surveys are deployed once 35 questions are purchased.
Human Subjects Compliance
CSSI staff will maintain human subjects compliance with the University of Iowa IRB throughout the course of the project.
Data Export
CSSI staff will receive the Verasight survey data and transfer the data to the UI researcher. Data will be provided in the researcher's preferred data format from the following list: Excel/csv, Stata, or SPSS.
Survey Design Information
Survey data will be collected through Verasight. Additional details regarding Verasight’s methodology are available here.
Sample Size
Survey data are collected from a nationally representative panel sample of adult respondents. Researchers will receive 1000 completed and validated responses to their submitted questions.
Data Weights
Weights are calculated for the following adult population benchmarks, using an iterative raking method: age, race/Hispanic ethnicity, education, household income, metropolitan/non-metropolitan status, census region, partisanship, and 2020 presidential general election vote.
Standard Demographic Information
Along with the submitted questions, researchers will receive standard demographic information about survey respondents. Measures include gender, age, education, Hispanic ethnicity, race, income, zip code, political identification, and 2020 presidential general election vote. Additional details regarding the wording of the demographic questions are available upon request.

Researchers may purchase up to 35 “question units” using the following rubric:
Multiple choice questions: 1 question unit

Short-form open-ended questions (single word or short phrase): 2 question units
Maximum of three long-form open-ended questions (maximum of 3 sentences each): 3 question units
