A recent survey found that most Americans believe social science research helps policymakers and community leaders make informed decisions and that investing in this research improves quality of life in the United States.

The findings come from a national survey launched by Verasight as part of its 2026 client omnibus survey. The University of Iowa Center for Social Science Innovation (CSSI) currently maintains a subscription with Verasight, allowing UI faculty, staff, and student researchers to conduct high-impact survey research at a reduced cost.

Verasight collected data between March 616, 2026, surveying 1,000 U.S. adult residents on a range of topics, including technology, politics, and civic life. Two questions, submitted by CSSI, focused on perceptions of social science research.
