CSSI Welcomes the Participants of the 2025 Dissertation Completion Program

The Center for Social Science Innovation (CSSI) has recently accepted three participants for its Spring 2025 Dissertation Completion Program (DCP). The Spring 2025 DCP cohort includes Munachim Amah (Journalism and Mass Communication), Nathan Micatka (Political Science), and Lisa Nakahara (Educational Policy and Leadership Studies).

UI affiliates publish study reflecting firearms leading to more pediatric homicide

The study details pediatric homicide in the U.S. and its connection to age, gender, race, relationship, and firearm usage. Mark Berg, one of the co-authors of the paper, as well as a professor of criminology and director of the Center for Social Science Innovation at the UI, partnered with coworker Ethan Rogers and UI alum Hannah Rochford to compile data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s 1976-2020 Supplementary Homicide Reports.
